Backing Off

Just want to let you know -- all is not that bad. I'm feeling better, talked to the surgeon and got some good news, etc. More later -- but be not afraid.

Hello, I happened to find your blog while I was doing research on myelomalacia. I have myelomalacia in my cervical spinal cord as a result of acute onset idiopathic transverse myelitis. In reading your blog I wondered if you had heard of neuromyelitis optica (NMO), optic neuritis or Devic's Disease? There's a specific antibody test for NMO that can be drawn at your local hospital and sent to the Mayo Clinic for processing. For an optic neuritis eval, a good one, you need to see a neuro-opthalmologist. They are few and far apart but the peace of mind is worth the distance. Double vision is also seen in multiple sclerosis (MS). You may also want to look at the TMA website at www.myelitis.org for more references. I hope I've been of some help to you. Best of luck to you in your recovery.
